Our Christmas Adventure (Part I: Getting There, Snowshoeing, and The Perfect Snowman)

We’ve been looking forward to this trip for a few months. No one really knew if there was going to be snow when we got there…we just hoped! As we made our way up a narrow mountain road, patches of white appeared until we were smack dab in the middle of a winter wonderland. 2K1A7818Our cabin was just perfect! 2K1A7849

We settled in, started a fire, and let the kiddos play for the rest of the evening. 2K1A7814There was about six inches of snow when we got there, and no one knew there would be over four feet of snow when we left three days later.2K1A7915 The next morning, we were excited to get the kids bundled up, and out in the snow! We bundled the kids …um very efficiently 2K1A8029…and ten minutes later there were a bit frustrated…and hot. We went in, re-gathered, and decided to go out again in the afternoon… with a different wardrobe strategy.

While we inside, we made a gingerbread house…2K1A7893…and started a puzzle…2K1A8014…and the guys went snowshoeing….2K1A79192K1A79272K1A8015

After a nap, we tried again (with less layers), and went sledding…2K1A7851…and we had a snowball fight…2K1A7968…and made the most perfect snowman I’ve ever seen in real life…2K1A79672K1A79702K1A7976…and that was the end of day two. Well actually this was… 2K1A7964
