Grey and I have been scrambling around to put the finishing touches on Christmas this year. I can officially say that “I am almost done with Christmas shopping,” our cards are out, most of the presents are wrapped, and I’ve made more eggnog cookies than I could eat in an entire year.
The air is crisp, and the weather has been exceptionally “wintery,” which just gives me one more reason to snuggle up on the couch with a big bowl of minestrone.
I have vowed to savor everyday for the rest of the year….just to make sure Christmas doesn’t slip by too quickly. This is our second Christmas as a married couple, and the first Christmas together in our little home.
As a little girl I had miraculous ideas about what Christmas would be like at home when I was a “grown-up.”I would bake tons of cookies and put them in tins with ribbon securing the lid on and send them out to family and friends and we would decorate the tree together with old Christmas songs playing in the background.
“Christmas comes with gold, frankincense and myrrh,
Christmas comes with Jesus’ birth,
Christmas comes with angels from afar,
Christmas comes with a wondrous star.
Christmas comes with children singing,
Christmas comes with sleigh bells ringing,
Christmas comes with frosty nights,
Christmas comes with snowball fights.
Christmas comes with Santa Claus,
Christmas comes with snowy floors,
Christmas comes with robins and reindeer,
Christmas comes with a hearty cheer.
Christmas comes now, at last,
Christmas comes, like in the past,
Christmas comes after such a long wait,
Christmas comes and it will be great.”
I hope you are enjoying the last of your Christmas preparations, and doing everything within the larger frame of what this season is all about. I pray your prayers are sweet and strengthening.
Love, Grey and Brianna
P.S. “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”
