Sterilizing jars is quite simple and the most important step of the canning process. Thoroughly wash jars in a dishwasher on the hottest setting.If you do not own a dishwasher hand-washing is fine, (I hand-wash!) just use a good quality soap and hot water.
Place washed jars in boiling water canner (just a big pot.) Fill half way with water, filling jars so they don’t float. Cover and bring water to boiling. Turn down to medium so the water is at a low rolling boil for 5-7 minutes.
