Welcome to our kitchen! There are some items in every kitchen that are just part of it. They are used so much, they become permanent* fixtures. Just as permanent as the counters, sink, dish towels, etc. They are the staples that hold the room together, here’s a list of ours (in no particular order, besides the order I thought of them!):
Steel Cut oats
Whole Peeled Tomatoes
Fresh Parmesan Cheese
Dried Red Pepper Flakes
Montreal Steak Seasoning
Montreal Chicken Seasoning
Dried Italian Seasoning
*We make an effort to keep these items in the house at all times, and replenish as needed.
Then there are those items that come and go every week.These items are replaced on a weekly basis…I’ll call ’em the semi-staples**:
Greens (mixed, spinach, etc.)
Red or White Wine
Hummus (on treat weeks!)
**Semi-staples vary a bit from week to week.
***This list reflects that we only eat bananas and apples. We do buy other fruit when it is in season, or on sale. We just usually always have apples and bananas in the kitchen.
